** 6/28/17 CASPer® test **

Feedback from students

-First CASPer® test of the season for US medical schools
-Overall, questions were deemed more challenging than last year's CASPer® June 2016 testing date.

Video Based Sections

-Fewer emphasis on clear cut ethics compared to last year's June test.
-Scenarios seemed to place greater emphasis on critical decision making around direct non-medical based themes with medical undertones.
-Time management continues to remain an issue for test takers.
-Fewer complaints of technical difficulties experienced compared to last year's group.
-Greater emphasis on qualities such as advocacy, collaboration and professionalism were reported.

Word Based Sections

-Significant emphasis on critical thinking as expected.
-Greater emphasis on qualities such as resilience, teamwork and communication were reported.
-Two out of the four sections were deemed "challenging".

Any tips for those taking CASPer in July and August? Thanks.

Any tips for those taking CASPer in July and August? Thanks.

Some things to keep in mind,

1. If you answered questions out of sequence and later realized you did so, do not erase and retype. Simply write a few words in the answer space to let the assessor know where to look.

2. When answering video based section questions, pay attention to context and use it your advantage (ie. character names, location, environment)

3. When answering word based section questions, do not share shallow examples which reflect negatively in the eyes of the assessor.

4. Practice makes perfect. Sit through at least one practice full length sitting of the test under timed constraints to ensure you are familiar with the process and routine.
