Hi....I'm an IMG who did not match this year and looking for alternatives. My main aim is to do hem/onc and specialize in bone marrow transplant and malignant hematology.
Can anyone advice if one can do a hem/onc fellowship after doing a combined internal medicine/medical genetics residency?
Thanks

As the above poster stated to do do Heme Onc in the US you have to apply to it after doing your residency in internal medicine first. There is no pathway into heme onc if you only do medical genetics. Did you scramble into a combined program or are you looking for one? If you do a combined program, it will also work since you will be doing your residency in IM as well as genetics.

wouldn't combined programs generally be more competitive than IM alone?
