Hey guys, so I'm confused why n-butylalcohol and n-butylamine have no dipole-dipole forces present, I was thinking they would have those forces because they are polar molecules.

Also, what does the "n" stand for in their names?

The molecules are not that polar. If not polar, there is no dipole moment (In this case there is some but it is negligible because the molecule has a long hydrocarbon chain which is nonpolar). If there is no dipole moment there is no dipole-dipole attraction.

n- stands for normal and is used for continuous chain with no branching.
