Are review articles worth it?

Hi,
As a fellow, is there any point in spending time writing review articles? Do they help build an academic career/get grant funding down the line? Or does only only original research matter for those things? I suppose it is better than nothing, but not sure if it is worth spending time on.

If your mentor got an invitation to write a review article in a top journal, sure go for it. It looks nice on your CV.
otherwise, they're a lot of work and generally difficult to publish if you have no big names on the paper.
