How to pass the oral or written ABOG or AOBOG exam
I get asked this question a lot!!! So I though I would post below
For more information please see my blog
www.passingyourobgynboards.com
Blog#1 5-tips for passing your obgyn boards
Blog#2 What to do if I don't pass my written or oral obgyn boards (up Jan 14 2015)

ACOG in 2009 published a report of several agencies offering oral and written boards. I will include this below see*

For written exams:

If you need to know what to study the ABC course offers a diagnostic test for $50 that will target your weak areas (good for written and oral takers) http://blanceducationservices.com/index.html ABC now has separate 425 question!! tests that mimic written boards.

In my opinion the best prep is one with LOTS of practice of written exam questions such as ABC/ Dr. Wall's. Both have a great pass rate and everyone just raves about both styles!!! The ABC site Dr. Das includes a board review course is A BONUS as you get written questions plus a board review course that is also good toward preparing for oral exams
http://www.americasboardreview.com/...exam/products/abog-written-exam-combo-package

Walls site can be found at http://www.obgynboardprep.com/mock.html

I think Osler and Exam Pro offers a great course with wonderful instructors and their audio tapes are fantastic! On 6/10/10 I stand corrected!!! The new Exam Pro course has addition of exam style format questions
and is FREE for all candidates at:http://www.exampro.com/boards/MembWrittens_Only.asp?clasification=written

Best study tools PROLOG and Precis don't bother with textbooks at this time.

Oral exams

Its hard to decide which course to take definitely have someone look at your case list Dr ABC, Exam Pro, Osler and Wall, ALL offer these services. Take a focused oral exam course and have your case-list reviewed expensive but worth it!

In addition AOBOG candidates there is a new webinar geared especially for the 10 core topics
This is a must do for all those that fail the oral exam ABOG or AOBOG. The ten core topic course is a live interactive board like review with participation from registered members to answer case of the day questions!!!!

Replies from past participants note the ABC course to be very accessible , " with you every step of the way". The course director is readily available by cell phone. ABC's motto is The oral exam especially requires mentors who "practice what they preach". Their courses provide a REVIEW AND EXAM STRATEGY. The lectures are evidence based, exam focused, and in accordance with the latest ACOG standards. What is nice is each registrant receives a Test Topics Manual that accompanies their 900+ page binder. This contains each lecture, a list of the pertinent ACOG Compendium references, and the exam focus.

Exampro pro is now offering a money back guarantee for first time test takers
if you take their case list construction course ( these courses end in June)..
The course is well taught and definitely worth the money. Must be a USA
residency graduate and first time test taker. ABC also offers a money back guarantee as well.

I also received notice that the ABC course is offering a new course
called " Are you smarter than a board examiner", based after the
game are you smarter than a 5th grader. The course is offered in
Baltimore April 2009. It actually lets you observe and participate in a mock oral.
In addition Dr. Das published the second updated edition of her guide to the
oral and written boards in 2009 titled Pass your Oral OB/GYN Board Exam! ISBN 978-0-9822921-2-9.

I have a question ...I have some question papers by Dr Walls...
What is a good score ? What % age ?
Does it vary with the test ..(I took BMW test)

Thanks ....I hope I am not infringing the rules by discussing this here!

Great resource Diane. Here is what I did:

Written: Precis/Prologs (read them twice)

Oral: Precis and Perinatal Resources (the Orlando course)

Good luck everyone.

I think Global will mirror me on the answer to your question
"what is a good score for written or orals?"

PASS

Basically only CREOGs (residency OB/GYN yearly test) give scores

How to pass ABOG oral exam? Get your case list reviewed professionally or attend a case list review course. A course can save you about $250-400 over a personal review. It is well worth the time and money. Remember your case list is a first impression. Many who have failed said they did so because they were unable to defend their case list--they were blind-sighted by questions a review could of pointed out. Many great courses exist. Feel free to PM me with questions.
