Question specifically for emergency medicine-trained applicants to IM-CC programs: do consulting medicine services (i.e. pulmonology, cardiology) count towards the six months of internal medicine experience that you need? I found an FAQ on the ACGME website that seems to indicate that the six months have to be either MICU or floor medicine (with a minimum of 3 months of MICU). Thanks!

The acgme doesn't specify:

I saw that, it's from 2016. This document from 2014 is giving me pause:

Q: Must the three-month non-MICU prerequisite experience have to be three months of floor medicine, or do consult months or experience in an observation unit count as well?

A: Yes, all three months of the non-MICU prerequisite experience must be spent on floor medicine. Neither consults nor experiences in observation units count towards meeting this requirement.
