Hi everyone,

I was unsuccessful in the 2016-2017 cycle and am deciding whether or not to apply for the 2017-2018 cycle.

My stats:
~3.6 cGPA
~3.5 sGPA
MCAT score of 509 (128/126/125/130).

My main EC's:
3 years in research, with one co-authorship on a publication
1000 hours in AmeriCorps *I started this after being rejected last cycle
40 hours of coaching basketball
1200 hours as a medical scribe and volunteer CNA

I applied to:
My 2 state schools
Oakland Beaumont
Tulane
Drexel
NYMC
Vermont
Arizona
VCU
Wake Forest
Georgetown

I received two interviews from my two state schools, but I was rejected and waitlisted, respectively. My MCAT score might be low for OOS schools, but it is fine for my state schools (after talking to the advisors of both schools). However, I did not have much non-medical community service hours (about 40). I'm hoping my AmeriCorps experience of about 6 months might indicate some improvement if I decide to apply this cycle or the next.

What does everyone think?

The next time you apply add these schools:
Quinnipiac
Temple
Jefferson
GW
Rosalind Franklin
Creighton
any new schools that open for 2018 (Seton Hall, Roseman)
Also apply to at least 8 DO schools and you may need a DO LOR for some schools.
There is a chance you may come off the wait list in the next 2 months.

Thank you! I will definitely apply to those new schools and DO schools.
Do you think my Americorps experience is substantial enough for me to apply again this cycle?

Yes and remember that you are competitive for all DO schools with your stats.
