2017-2018 Interview Thread -- Radiology

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thank you. I'll be doing the same. Good luck with everything!
I heard from her today and she said she had me down for my first date but that she isn't "sending out confirmations just yet." I was stressing all weekend about it so that helped calm me down.

Woke up this morning- cheerful and hopeful that I would roll over, grab my phone, check my email and find that glorious email notifying me of my first residency interview. Instead, I rolled over to find an empty email inbox. It's going to be a long 6 months...

Relax! Things will work out! As mentioned previously on this thread, many programs use specific filters (in-state, away rotation, etc) before inviting for interviews this early.

Just got an offer from University of Florida (Gainesville)- here are the dates:

October 17, 18, 24, 25, 31

November – 1, 7, 8, 14, 15

December – 5, 6, 12, 13

I received a prelim interview invite at a program where I also applied for rads, should I contact the radiology program coordinator to see if I can get an interview while I'm in town? How about other programs in the same city? I did some searches but didn't find great advice.

Way too early. I would contact if interview thread showed people getting invite but you haven't.

I think a Step 1 cutoff makes sense in my case, at least. I won't put specifics, but my Step 1 is between 210 and 230. Step 2 is 250 to 270.

I believe the rest of my application is up to par with my scores, but I feel most programs will start offering interviews with the MSPE in october, at least for IMGs

UMPC rejection as I posted previously IMG w/ +265

UPMC and big programs will filter you out since you are img. You can expect interview from IMG friendly programs and some programs in CT

UMPC has currently various IMGs in their program. I have known IMGs (few) matching at big programs (ie MGH, JH, MIR, Upenn), the idea does apply but they take into consideration other factors, not just being an IMG.

Yeah.. As img you have to take chance to get your application in. I know from last year one of friend did not get get interview from upmc and had 260 plus plus residency at home country.

For UPMC, my friend has much higher Step 1 than I do and he got rejection, yet I didn't somehow.
Huh. Seems like it's not solely Step 1. Likely some custom composite filter since I would find it unlikely they reviewed enough applications by 2:21am Monday to do much other than apply a filter. Anyhow , plenty more programs out there!

I am a US grad and they rejected my classmate last year who was AOA and much better grades than me. I got interviewed. They obviously do something to screen people that we dont know about.

I've subscribed to this thread. Yet, I still visit the forum and thread to see if anything has changed or if another batch interview invitations have been sent. Please tell me I'm not the only one who's this obsessive and anxious.

You are not lol...
Different perspective here (FMG). Just a rejection so far and I have to study and prepare in the meantime for back up plans (I am applying in my home country and Spain in rads, since I prefer be a radiologist no matter where rather than taking another specialty). So just chill take a tea.. and if you are a us graduated you'll be fine. Best wishes.

Did you hear a reply back after you messaged about scheduling interviews? I messaged but the coordinator hasn't sent a confirmation message. Wondering if they do a "get all preferences before scheduling" kind of thing, waiting 24-48 hours. But that would be odd since they specifically say it's a first-come first-serve basis, so I don't see why they would need to delay sending confirmation messages...

Even though it may be "first come, first serve," some coordinators (from what I understand) like to batch out confirmation. This way, they can systematically send out details such as pre-interview dinner, hotel info, and even sometimes your specific interview day schedule. It's often easier to batch than to respond invidually immediately. If you don't hear back after 72 hours, a follow up email may not hurt.

Did anyone apply to the University of Kansas? If so, any invitations so far?
