its very very early in the season. If u need H1, may be there is possibility of affecting. J1s shdnt be an issue
~40 programs have sent invites so far. That is something we know. Dont know if there is going to be a second wave of invites. There might be institutions that have sent invites but we do not know of.

40 programs = approx. 1/3rd of total heme/onc programs (excluding ivy leagues).

I don't think it is "very very early in the season", anymore.

It is at least half as likely that there will be a wave of second round of invites plus the prospect of interviews from traditional
IMG friendly programs in the country. IMGs typically start getting IVs late depending on their credentials

I hope you are right! Time will tell.... :)

It's definitely still early. When I applied I had interviews through the end of August/early September and there were people who did get interviews a bit later. You also have to take into account that people will eventually cancel interviews when they hear back from other places just because time constraints prevent them from going to all the interviews. I think I turned down a few interviews in Sept/October and presumably someone else was invited in my place at that time.

Board scores do matter, step 3 scores are taken into consideration atleast at my home program( NCCN centre). The problem is that even if you have awesome LOR you get screened out due to low scores and no one lays eyes on your application.

3 are strong. Fourth is good as I heard that person gives generic LOr to everyone. what happens if the program wants 3 lor and you assigned 4. Will they just choose random3? Don't know when I will get interviews. No luck. Saw your credentials. Did you get any?also I know it's late to ask this question but do we need pTAL for California programs?

-I guess they download all 4
-2 so far
-some require ptal for ranking , some dont. You dont need to have it to apply

For those who got Georgia reject did they also say they are keeping your file for back up just in case they don't make their interview quota?

For the people who have heard from Boston University, have you heard about the geri onc track or about the regular heme/onc track too?

Over-interviewing only hurts your fellow co-applicants. Please make sure to cancel interviews you don't plan on going to in a reasonable timeframe, and interview at programs you actually would see yourself matching into.

Applied to 19 - got 8. Won't give my specific stats lest I can be identified but... Step 1/2 both well above 250, reputable residency program, 1 publication, 1 paper under review, 1 textbook chapter.

Me. Every. Single. Day....

9pm: "so excited for interview invites tomorrow !"
Sleeps: and has dreams / nightmares about invites
6am: wake up, "can't wait for those invites !" Goes to work
10am: check email, check eras, check phone.."oh it's just too early" back to work
Noon: check above, still nothing, check sdn and hear about others invites
12:01: goes to bathroom, swallows sadness, looks at mirror "still plenty of time today"
3pm: still nothing...small piece of me dies inside
6pm: go home, check sdn, chug a beer for every program I see that sent others invites
9pm: "so excited for interview invites tomorrow !"

We are only at approximately 43 programs sending invites so far ...not even half...keep your spirits up ...postpone the depression for another 2 weeks :)
