Likewise ... trying not to hold my breath. I do appreciate the data supporting that the vast majority of interviews are offered in August.

I hate when you get these ERAS things saying thanks man we're reading your file now. You get all excited that it's an interview, except it's not. :(

Do you think if you applied 10th July it makes a difference since the application started July 6th? Although the programs didn't have access to the application till July 15th. Can anyone answer this question?

I'm told the time stamp was the same on all applications submitted before the 15th, so no advantage to turning them in before that.
 
But I heard the way they download the application is how you apply so it's first come first serve. U think it's not true?

It may be true, but I feel pretty certain a program wouldn't skip over you for an interview for applying on the 12th vs the 10th.

I got the generic email then a few minutes later got an invite via interview broker

Hey, I am not sure about most programs but our interviews are setup starting last week of August and 1st 2 weeks of September, we dont interview after that.

How does your program batch interview invitations ? (assuming it does so)

For example, do you 1. take the first "X number" of applicants, review their apps and then send out a (Y %) of interviews followed by reviewing another batch a few days to weeks later and repeating this process until complete?
Or do you 2. use an algorithm to select out the top applicants / best fit and then send out invites to them followed by sending out a second round of invites if needed based off the number of responses to the first batch of invitations? Or do you 3. Do something similar but slightly different to one of these strategies ? or 4. Something completely different ? (if 3 or 4 please explain !) I am not an IMG but Im sure anything related to interview invitations in the batching process related to IMGs would also be greatly appreciated on this forum.

Our program director downloads "X" number of applications within couple of days after they are available, usually he invites 'Y' number of people distributed equally over 3 interview dates after getting responses from them. Over the past 4-5 yrs he hasn't had to download the applications again. So one thing that is important is that you apply on the earliest possible date because programs might download applications once and get the required number of applicants from that batch of applications and may not download again.

Two things.

1. I do not know why people keep insisting that users are posting fake IVs or false information. I know 4 people from different backgrounds applying right now that can corroborate about 40% IVs invites and rejections posted here. So If I know that 40% that I know its true I would think most or all the postings here are true.

2. What does it mean if I didnt get and invite or a rejection from places mentioned above. That my application is still "under review" and I still may have a chance of getting invite.

So I know that the US News rankings on cancer hospitals is mostly BS. I want to start of by saying that before I get replies saying never look at those rankings to decide on programs. I am curious though what they use to rank hospitals? Does anyone know?

Guys, let's post some about our application,

IMG no visa, Usmles 220s, 11 publications, strong research resume did research fellow at one of the top universities

I guess programs first review USMLE high scores files.. any idea?

AMG. Decent Step scores.
Bench press: 225 x 5.
Squat: 245 x5
Deadlift: 305 x5
Likes sushi and eating at nice restaurants.

Maybe they liked my numbers?

As I have said before that's not how programs review apps. Your step scores being in the 220's is not what is holding you back I promise you that. H/O is not one of the specialties that particularly care about step scores. It could be a whole host of factors including the program you're coming from the fact that your an IMG or (hopefully not) a possible red flag. Programs send invites out in waves not necessarily several waves but many send out at least 2 sets of invites (esp after the first wave goes out, people cancel, etc). Your research resume is imprsssive and thus you should probably get interviews so long as your list wasn't too top heavy (another variable that could be a reason to not have interviews). Remember it's still very early.

Is it still early? I am losing hope. May be I should start looking for backup options?
 
LoRs are by far the most important part of the app, as I've been told by multiple PDs and oncologists

If by August 15th it's still quiet then I think it's a reasonable time to get nervous. Last yr there was one program I interviewed at that their first IV was sent out 9/2 AND they sent out additional invites after that as well. But as far as I know that program was one of if not the last to offer its first invites. The vast majority will be coming over he next 3 weeks.

its very very early in the season. If u need H1, may be there is possibility of affecting. J1s shdnt be an issue
